How can I send Relief Materials?
Relief material from any part of the country can be booked by various NGOs/Trusts, organisations and Government Agencies comprising National Disaster Management Agency in favour of District Magistrates of Purnea, Saharsa and Katihar. It will be transported free of charge by the Indian Railways. Control Rooms for assisting in relief material transportation are functional at the Railway Board and at all zonal and divisional headquarters of Indian Railways. People interested in sending relief material can contact the General Managers of Zonal Railways and the Divisional Railway Managers
Statistics, daily reports from ground zero
The National Disaster Management Authority website gives information on districts/ families affected and the relief and rescue operations being conducted by the government. Daily updates are available.
The Govt of Bihar website has daily updates on flood status in the state. It includes names of blocks affected by the flood, extent of damage in flood affected areas, districts wise flood statistics, information on deployment of armed forces and CRPF personnel. This site also has a flood inundation map of Bihar with the relief camps and their locations marked on it. Numbers of all district helplines and hospitals are also listed.
The National Disaster Management Departmentof the Ministry of Home Affairs uploads detailed daily reports on the flood situation across the country. Site reports include district wise information (for Bihar) on not just relief materials, but also electricity and water supply, condition of roads etc. Requires a little browsing but valuable information, especially for organisations that propose to work in the flood affected areas.

Water Resources Dept of Bihar Govt runs a Flood Info Mgmt System that provides daily maps and reports about the inundation.
Relief Web has interesting maps showing the flooded areas, organisations working in different districts, density of population, number of households affected etc. It also has satellite images of the breach
District Profiles: Find out the extent of damage, the number of people affected, locations of relief camps and the organisations at work in every district. All India Radio has developed a special software for helping the flood affected people. One can send information regarding missing relatives, relief requirements or any other information through SMS (to 09971247247) and Internet. This information will be broadcast at regular intervals from the AIR stations of Bihar. The list of missing persons will also be available online. For more information, contact AIR Patna, AIR Bhagalpur, AIR Darbhanga and AIR Purnea.
